The Chinese Consulate-General has received a cable message from Chungking stating that General Chen Cheng in a statement said that in the past China had been able to carry on satisfactorily her war of resistance in conjunction' with her programme Of reconstruction in the rear.
In regard to the three questions cf supplementing the weapons of war, provisions and troops, the Government was fully confident of solving them. The international situation also iiad been somewhat improved.
Viewing the whole position, the second stage of the intense warfare was greatly to their advantage, and after this the enemy might endeavour to advance both in the south-west and north-west simultaneously, but they were fully prepared for such an eventuality.
