CHRISTMAS SHOPPING CONDITIONS IN BRITAIN DELAYS IN SERVICES SOME ROADS IMPASSABLE (Eloc. Tel. Copyriffht—United Press Assn.) (British Officio) Wireless.) Reed. 1 p.m. RUGBY. Dec. 23. The 'Christmas shopping activities in London suffered serious disorganisation owing to the severe weather of the past few days and further heavy falls of snow last night. Street traffic wss subject to much congestion in the West End as well as in the outer districts.
The thaw which >-ri in yesterday continued in the north and west of England, but temperatures in the south fell again last night and reached freeing point in the London area in the early hours of the morning.
Delays still occurred on the London underground system to-day, but the conditions showed a marked improvement on yesterday. Other railway systems were also subject to delays and in many parts of the country roads were impassable.
