In Excellent Order

Willie Win has done particularly well since the New Zealand Cup meeting, and if landed at the post for the Auckland Cup in the same condition as he left Riccartbn he will take a power of beating. He and Defaulter were tried out over a mile on the outside of the course proper at Riccarton last week. The pace set by Defaulter was solid, but over the last quarter Willie Win beat him comfortably in 1.43. Later in the week the same pair were companions in ;; working gallop over nine furlongs. The trouble.with Willie Win is that he is a bad traveller. If he should do well on the trip, he will be hard to beat in whatever races he starts. Defaulter does not appear to be as good a colt as he was on the eve of the New Zealand Cup meeting.
