CLASH AT FUNERAL
IRISH REPUBLICAN ARMY VICTIM OF EXPLOSION LONDON, Doc. 1. The funeral of James Reynolds, one of the victims of an explosion at Castlefinn on November 28, led to an •ncounter between armed detectives tnd members of the Irish Republican Army.
The echoes of the “Last Post" had barely died out when six armed men with rifles approached in order to fire i volley over the grave. The detectives rushed forward, but ."ailed to prevent the firing which attracted 40 uniformed Civil Guards.
Mourners were thrown into a panic ind women fainted. A thousand members of the Repubican Army blocked the detectives as he six men escaped.
