EXPRESS HITS CAR

FIVE OCCUPANTS HURT LEVEL CROSSING SMASH (Ter Press Association.)

PALMERSTON N., this day.

At Shannon yesterday afternoon the south-bound Napier express struck a car driven by Arthur John Hodge, a share-milker, Moutoa, who was accompanied by his wife and three children.

Mr. Hodge suffered head injuries, and a fracture of the left thigh, his wife suffered shock, and a daughter, Bertha, agpd 16, a fracture of the left thigh, Dorothy, aged five, a broken leg, and Edwin, aged two, possible internal injuries. All were sent to hospital.

The car, an old touring model, was considerably damaged, being carried 100 ft. beyond the crossing.
