INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL
TENDER ACCEPTED GISBORNE CONTRACTOR. Advice was received Ibis afternoon 1 by Mr. J. S. Wauchop, a member of | the Hawke’s Bay Education Board, that the tender of Mr. George Smith, Gisborne, had been accepted for the construction of the intermediate school in Gisborne. The school will be situated on a site bounded on the north by ft ie Victoria Domain and on the west h,y the Oval. A portion of that area i s to be used by the Government for tin 3 erection of State houses, the section reserved for the intermediate school being on the easterly side. Access will be provided from Disraeli street and Roebuck road, from the north, and from Anzac street on the south. |
The announcement that the tender had been accepted followed several years of agitation and later by negotiation for suitable sites. It is expected that an immediate start will be made wih the work.
