JAPANESE RETIREMENT

The Hong Kong correspondent of The Times says that refugees distrust the reports of the retirement o! Japanese troops from the liong Kong border for which reason they hesitate to return to their homes.
The Japanese forces are facing opposition in south Shansi which threatens to hold up their drive toward Sian. Traffic on the Lunghai railway, which lias been -the Japanese objective for months past, has not yet been stopped. Chinese forces totalling 250,000 were opposing the Japanese advance in north Honan.
