SHEEP, CATTLE, PIGS BEEF PRICES UP 20/(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Entries at the weekly stock market at Addington yesterday were smallei than last week, but there was a slight improvement in values in the more important sections, fat sheep, fat cattle and fat pigs. There was little change in values of store sheep, except for ewes with lambs, which showed an easing, except for better sorts, ol about'l/- a head. Good pens of and lambs made to 16s 3d, medium sorts 8s to 10s, indifferent 5s Cd to 7. 6d. Hoggets sold firmly. The best wethers went to 16s 4d, medium lis, rough down to 6s; ewe hoggets 13s 6d to 15s lOd. The best spring lambs eased, primest sorts making about lid per lb.

The entry of fat sheep was larger than last week, comprising about 4750. There was good competition throughout and, as at last week's sale, shorn sheep were best in demand, and there was an appreciation of about 1/a head for the best ewes and wethers. Extra prime heavy woolly wethers made to 3Gs lOd. prime wethers 31s Gd to 33s 6d, prime medium 27s to 30s 6d, light to 225; extra prime shorn wethers made to 27s lOd, prime 23s to 25s 6d, prime medium 21s to 22s 6d, light to 19s; extra prime woolly ewes realised up to 26s 7d, prime 23s to 255, prime medium 18s 6d to 22s Cd, light to 15s 6d; best shorn ewes sold at fiom- 20s to 22s lOd, medium 16s to 18s 6d, light to 14s 6d. There was an entry of 422 fat cattle. The market firmed after the first race, and at the end values were up to 20s better. Heavyweight prime beef made from 46s to 48s 6d per 1001 b.; heifers in cases to 47s 6d; cows to 45s per 1001 b. Extra prime steers went to £23 2s 6d. prime £l7 15s to £2O, prime medium £l6 5s to £l7 15s, light £l2 ss; extra prime heifers to £l6 17s 6d, prime £l2 10s to £l4 10s, medium £lO 10s w £ll 15s. light to £10; extra prime cows realised up to £l6 17s Cd. prime £ll 5s to £l3 10s, medium £8 10s to £lO, light to £B.

The porker entry in the fat pig section was again on the light side, the sale being one of the best this season. A good number of rough and unfinished sorts was readily snapped up. Bacon fatteners generally showed an advance of from 2s to 3s. Choppers were in small supply, and a further hardening of values occurred. Banners, of which there was a large number, were very firm on the rates rulinr last week. Choppers made from ... 3s 6d to £5 16s, porkers £2 6s Cd to £3 9s Gd. The average price was rfr to BJd per lb. Baconers made from £3 10s 6d to £5 17s 6d, the average price being 7Jd to per lb.
