NARROW ESCAPE

A motorist who recently made a trip through the Buller Gorge is counting himself a lucky man. On his return to Christchurch he drove into a garage and swung the wheel hard to back into position. The steering column immediately snapped and on examination he found that it had been threatened to do so for some days. Had the accident occurred while he was driving through the gorge he and his passengers would have stood a big chance .of crashing over into the river far below.
