N.Z. SINGER ELIMINATED
SUN ARIA CONTEST
CRITICISM OF VOICE
(Reed. October 12, 9 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Oct. 11
Mrs. Richard Bradley, the only New Zealand entrant in the annual Sun newspaper aria contest, failed to reach the eight selected finalists who will appear at the Melbourne Town ITf.ll on Thursday night. There were 114 entrants from all parts of Australia for the event which is held in conjunction with the Ballarat competitions.
Of Mrs. Bradley, who sang "My Heart is Weary, from the operetta "Nadesha," the musical critic of the Sun said: "Her voice is sympathetic and under good control. Her interpretative instinct is aided by effective enunciation and word emphasis. Sometimes the voice deviated from good pitch."
