DAVIS CUP PRACTICE
QUIST FINDS INJURY BROMWICH IN FORM (Eluc. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) MONTREAL, Aug. 3. At the first practice to-day of the Australian Davis Cup tennis team, Quist found he had injured the middle finger of his racket hand, though he did not suffer unduly in an accident in Kansas City when a car bore down on him. The Japanese player, Yamagishi, is in hospital with a broken blister infected by poison. His entire arm is aifected. It is hoped he will be able to practice by Saturday, but it is problematical. The Australians took things easy. They are shaking off train-weariness and are seeking the feeling of the grass. Bromwich quickly readjusted his game. He is playing much better than in Kansas City, where he disliked the clay courts. After an hour's doubles play to-day he played a spirited singles against Hopman. Montreal is sweltering under a heat wave. Intense interest is being taken in the match.
