CONFLICT DENIED ROMANCE IN JOHORE STATE , SINGAPORE. July 25. As a seq\icl to reports published in London of conflict between the Sultan of Johore and the Governor of the Straits Settlements, Sir Sh'enton Thomas, the latter has issued a communique announcing that relations are friendly. The report states that the cause of the difference wa's the association of the Sultan and Miss Lyclia Hill, a ! London show girl. I In his communique Sir Shenton I Thomas states that the Sultan and he are exceedingly displeased at the statements. He adds that there has never been any conflict between them, and that their relations always have been, and are still, perfectly friendly.
