.MILITANTS IN ASCENDANCY WASHINGTON, July 25. Candidates from the Committee for Industrial Organisation (the militant labour body), were preferred to those affiliated with the American Federation of Labour in 100 of 208 union elections held between October, 1935, and January 1, 1938, according to figures issued by the National Labour Relations Board. present programme is of a lighter variety than usual, with a delightful part-song, Dudley Ruck's "Hymn to Music" included. No sacred music will be Raven on this occasion. Mr. T. Birchnall will conduct the choir, and the production should reflect his untiring efforts of the past three months, under somewhat Irving conditions owing to sickness and bad weather. Tickets are obtainable from all active members, and a large attendance is expected.
