The Prime Minister, the lit. Hon. M. J. Savage, completed a tour of South Canterbury to-day, returning north in the afternoon.
Mr. Savage addressed a large meeting at Waimate last evening. This morning Mr. Savage paid flying visits to Makikihi, Pareora and Pleasant Point, receiving warm welcomes at each centre, and having luncheon at the latter centre as the guest of local bodies.
Late this afternoon he will meet the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Semple, at Arundel, where he will inspect the irrigation works. He will be entertained at luncheon at Ashburton this evening, prior to which he will visit Methven.
The weather during the tour has been clear but cold, the party travelling over many roads covered with snow.
