OBITUARY
MR. JOHN EDWARD SHEEN
GISBORNE BUILDER
A long association with the building trade in Gisborne terminated this morning with the death in the Cook Hospital of Mr. John Edward Sheen, aged (11 years. His passing came with comparative suddenness for he was actively engaged in his work until a few weeks ago, when he contracted a chill.
The late Mr. Sheen, who was born in the Dominion, served his apprenticeship in the building trade with Messrs. Skeet and Company. For the
last 30 years he had operated as a builder on his own account.
Mr. Sheen was a member of the Cosmopolitan Club and the Masonic Lodge Montrose, having had a long connection with both organisations. He had been also a member of the Druids' Lodge for many years and •in his younger days had taken a keen interest in sport, especially in cricket.
Besides his widow, the deceased leaves one son, Mr. Keith Sheen, who is a master at the Otago Boys' High Schbol, and four daughters, Mrs. H. Williamson, Wairoa, Miss Gwen Sheen, Tokomaru Bay, Misses Jean and Muriel Sheen, Gisborne. His mother resides in Gisborne. A short service will be held in Cochrane's private chapel, Williams street, at 1.45 p.m. to-morrow, prior to the departure of the funeral for the Taruheru cemetery.
