A. AND P. SOCIETY MEETS GOOD ATTENDANCE (Humid Co'rrospondent.) Despite the wet and muddy condiions on Saturday, there was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Nuhaka A. and P. Society. Those present were Messrs. H. R. Hickling, president, B. Ri.cnardson, vice-president, M. R. Shaw, W. Tait, J. Pomana, S. Jones, K A. Sullmore, A.. T. Glenny, F. H. Young, K. Stewart, G. B. Steele, D. A. Hughes, J. Goldstone, R. Mclntyre, J. G. Mclntyre, R. Gilmore, and J. Joblin. A vote of condolence was move;-. with Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Hollay in their recent bereavement. Mr. Hickling, in presenting the annual report and balance sheet, already published in the Herald, explained that the large amount written oft was done reluctantly, but it could not be carried over from year to year. The society had a good deal of expense in front of it, and it behoved all committeemen to attend the committee meetings better than had been done in the past. The society were fortunate in having the service of such an efficient and willing secretary as Mr. P. J. Brewster. • The secretary thanked the president for his remarks and said it would be gratifying if the unpaid subscriptions were paid up. Messrs. W. Tait and D. A. Hughes also referred to this aspect of the balance sheet, which was adopted. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mr. H. R. Hicking; vicepresident, Mr. B. Richardson; committee, Messrs.' El A. Bullmore, K. B. Crbmbie, A. T. Glenny, J. Goldstone, D. A. HUghes, F. Jameson, S. Tones, R. Mclntyre, J. G. Mclntyre, W. Nepia, T. Nepia, H. Pomana, R. Gilmore, R'. C. Sturm, M, R. Shaw, K. Stewart, J. Small, G. 03. Steele, W. Tail. B. Taka, G. D. Tod, E. Te Ngaio, and F. H. Young; secretary, Mr. P. J. Brewster; judges' reception committee, Messrs. H. R. Hickling, B. Richardson, R. E.. Jefferson, M. R. Shaw, and R. Mclntyre. It was decided to. plough the showground early in the new year, Messrs. W. Tait, R. Mclntyre, A. T., Glenny and R. Gilmore being appointed to supervise the work. Mr. Tait offered to have the damage done to the din-ing-room repaired. He also moved a vote Of thanks to Mr. T. Lambert, vVairoa, for his past services to the society. The licensing of side shows and the proposed tree-planting were held over for 12 months. The programme for the 1939 Show was revised. Four new classes were made in the pigs. The stewards appointed for the various classes were:-—Saddle and harness horses, Mr. F. H. Young; competitions. Mr. G. D. Tod; flock sheep, Mr. S. Jones: fat sheep, Mr. H. Whitmorc: dairy cattle and pigs, Mr. R. 'C. Sturm; dogs, Mr. D. A, Hughes; vegetables and fruit, Mr. B. Taka; cooking, Mrs. M. Ryan; flowers. Miss B. Bbyd; traffic control, Mr. J. Pomana; weights and measures, Mr. R.- Gilmore; late entries, Mr. B. Richardson; parade marshal, Mr. G. D. Tod. The tender of Mr. Ferguson, Gisborne, for catering, was accepted. • A Young Farmers' Club sheep judging competition will be held on Show day.and will be open Co all members of young farmers clubs. The following donations were received: —Miss D. Jameson, silver cup for champion hack; Mr. H. R. Hick ing, silver cup for pig classes Messrs. W. Tait, M. R. Shaw, J. G. Mclntyre, D. A. Hughes, and C.- Ferguson, donations. A vote of thank: to the donors was carried. Mrs. R. Steed and Miss Steed are spending a holiday in Auckland.Mrs. K. N. Phin is visiting her daughter, Mrs. W. L. Necs, Wellington. —Sister May Gardiner and Mrs. W. Houston are visitors to Wellington for the Women's Institute conference.—Mrs. K. B. Crombie and Mr. S-. Symes are patients in the Wairoa Hospital. The Nuhaka. Co-operative Dairy Company has commenced its seasonal operations in the manufacture of cheese.
