SUPPLY OF POWER
WHAKATANE CHANGE
After being supplied for If) or Hi years from the borough power station 'at Onepu, Whakatane is now drawing its electricity supply from Arapuni. The change-over was made on Monday.
The Onepu station has now been closed down and will be maintained as a standby plant. Under the new arrangement there will be no change in the control of the supply, the borough buying the power in bulk through the Bay of Plenty Power Board and retailing it to consumers at the old rates.
The borough council's electrical staff will attend to service work in the area.
