HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY
WANGANUI TOURNAMENT

The Gisborne High School will be represented at the secondary schools hockey tournament to be held in Wanganui during the first week in the term holidays at the end of this month.
Arrangements have been made for the Gisborne team to leave home on Sunday or Monday, August 21 or 22, and they will arrive back on the following Monday. The members Will travel by car to Napier, and will use the train for the remainder of the journey. Visiting players will be billeted during their stay in Wanganui. This will' be the second hockey tournament to be held in New Zealand for secondary schools. The first was in Auckland last year, when Stratford emerged the champion team. Eight sides representing seven schools were engaged then, those competing, together with the number of points secured during the tournament, being as follows:--Stratford 13, Mount Albert Grammar 12, Auckland Grammar A 11. Wairarapa 7, Auckland Grammar B (i, Palmcrston North and Wanganui 3, Hamilton 1.
Thirteen players have been chosen to represent the Gisborne High School at this month's tournament, those selected being:—T. Darton, cap-
tain, O. Aitken, vice-captain. C. Sinden, G. Woodrow, F. Bacon, L. Poole, L. Roderick, G. Fredericks, A. Taylor. E. Hewitson, R. Hewitson, L. Murray and S. Wills. The team is being coached by Mr. G. Langhorne.
