GROUND FOR INDIANS

CHANGE TO OVAL LIKELY INSPECTION TO-DAY RUGBY UNION ACTION It is possible that the Indian-Pov-erty Bay hockey match on Thursday will be played on the Oval. A request for the use of the ground if required, was made in a letter received from the Poverty Bay Hockey Association at yesterday afternoon's meeting of the Poverty Bay Rugby Union's management committee! The granting of the request, or otherwise, was left In the hands of Messrs. G. H. Sceats, J. E. Mercer, and W. S. McKee. , Mr. O. S. Burt supported the application, but Mr. Mercer, as chairman of the grounds committee, opposed the use of No. 1 ground if there was any further rain. The minor competitions had been postponed last Saturday to save the surface of the grounds, Mr. Mercer said, and he was of the opinion that the grandstand ground would be in no fit state for a hockey match. The meeting was in sympathy with the association, and the sub-commit-tee was given power to act if the Childers Road Reserve was not in readiness for the match. .r • FINAL ARRANGEMENTS POHO-O-RAWIRI FUNCTION ADDRESS BY MANAGER Final arrangements for the visit of the Manavadar Indian State hockey team to Gisborne to-morrow and Thursday were made at a meeting of the Poverty Bay Hockey Association last night, Mr. H.
