HUNTING SONG EASILY JOCKEYS AND TRAINERS .1. WHITE PREPARES THREE ROYAL MIMICS LAST RACE (By "Trenton") Ten sires were represented by placed horses at the Poverty Bay Turf Club's meeting. The noted producer of mudlarks, Hunting Song, whose progeny accounted for £035, was an easy first. Other sires with their representatives' winnings were: Mimetic, £330; Lapidary, £310; Cockpit, £105: Raceful, £95; Commandant, £80; The Ace, £45; Psychology, £45; Paladin, £ls: Defoe, £ls: Colossus. £10; Dog Watch. £5. four Riders Even The riding successes were well divided. Four jockeys, J. McTnally, H. Callaghan, O. Evans and R. Marsh, scored two wins each while those with single successes were C. Kerr, N. Watson. W. Broughton, A. Lord, J. Fergus and O. Mclnally. Leading Trainer The training list was headed by J. White with three wins, The only other trainer to gain more than one win was D. N. Dueker. with Head Shepherd .■ind lluntette. Trainers of one winner were: R. M. Scelly, of Kllerslie, R. Arundel. ,1. W. Nixon, 11. S. Greene, ol Hastings, 11. Martin, 11. Griffiths, of Hasting:., T. Quinlivan, of Hastings, J. Woods and 1. Tinsley. A Gift Horse Royal Mimic had his last race on Friday in the Hack and Hunters" Steeplechase, when he bled badly. A six-year-old gelding by MimeticAll Day. Royal Mimic, is still young as 'chasers go. Had he remained sound there is no doubt that his best performances would be yet to come. Bred by Mr. D. M. Ross, of Gisborne, he had a promising career as a steeplechaser. His best performances as a hurdler were recorded at Ellerslie. where he won twice in three starts. Started in the Winter Steeplechase at the last Northern Meeting, he was in the lead at the last fence when he fell. On Saturday last Mr. D. J. Barry, Royal Mimic's owner while he raced, announced that he had presented his horse to Miss Margaret Sherratt, a well-known member of the Poverty Bay Hunt Club, to be used in the hunting field.
