A slaughterman, John Ashton, aged 47, an employee at. the Gisbornc abattoirs, was found this morning at the abattoirs with a wound in his throat. A doctor was called and the patient taken to hospital. His condition was serious, but he was still alive at 3.15 p.m. Mr. Ashton is ; r » married man with two children and lives in Awapuni road. He had been in Gisborne for the past 20 years. He was not seen at work from 7 a.m. today until he was found at about 10.80 a.m.
