CHRISTCHURCH, this day.

Mr. John Maughan Barnett, organist at Christchurch Cathedral for the last Hi months, died suddenly yesterday, aged 72. A prominent organist in New Zealand lor the last 45 years, the late Mr. Barnett held important positions in three of the four main centres. He came to Christchurch after having been city organist at Auckland for 20 years.
