UP TO £700,000 LOSS
VANCOUVER DOCK FIRE HEROIC CREWS OF TUGS SHIPS TOWED TO SAFETY (Klee. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. July 28, 2.40 p.m.) VANCOUVER, July 27. Fire in the Canadian Pacific Company’s docks caused damage estimated at £700,0D0. Heroic crews ran tugs through the flames, pulling three coastal steamers from the blazing docks. Three tugs pulled tlie Empress of Russia, which was loading for the Orient, into tlie stream. Heavily-stocked freight sheds under the docks were destroyed. Four firemen were hurled into the harbour by a gas explosion, being rescued by fishermen.
