WET DAY SIGNALS
WARNING TO MOTORISTS PROSECUTION INTENDED CYCLISTS' REFLECTORS Motorists who fail to give proper traffic signals and cyclists who have no reflectors or no white paint on their rear mudguaivs are to be prosecuted by the traffic inspector. Warning of this intention was given to the Gisborne Borough Council last night by the town clerk, Mr. W. M. Jenkins. "The reluctance of car drivers in closed cars to give the correct, or any signal, on wet days when-desiring to change direction is giving cause for some concern," Mr. Jenkins stated. "A special check lias been made during the past few days of heavy rain, and a number of drivers have been slopped for failing to give signals. "The signals required on all occasions are clearly shown by illustration on Page 35 of the traffic regulation booklet issued to all drivers. "In view of the number of narrow escapes from collisions during the cast week, it is the intention of the inspector to prosecute in all cases of •".allure to give a correct signal. "It has been noticed that a large number of cyclists have failed to equip their cycles with the regulation reflector and white painted mudguard. Arrangements have been made tor an early inspection of cycles, and cyclists are warned to see that their cycles comply with the regulations before any action is taken by the traffic inspector."
