A deputation from the Cook County Council was to have gone to Wellington during the week-end in an endeavour to urge upon the Government the urgency of granting relief in connection with tlood damage during 'the April and May floods, but in view of the 'state of the roads the trip was postponed. A promise of assistance as a result of damage in the February flood lias 'been secured, but the Government has not staled its intention regarding the two later floods, and the council desires an- early announcement of the Government’s intentions.
