MATAWHERO PIG MARKET A STRONG DEMAND There was a strong demand for pigs at the Matawhero stock sale yesterday and as a result keen competition ruled for the 'small offering of about GO pigs. The quality of the yarding was good. Values ranged as follows:—Weaners, 14s (id: slips, 18s Gd to 225; light porkers, 33s to 375; heavy porkers, 41s. WITAKATANH STOCK SALE The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, held their monthly Whakatime sale on Thursday. A medium yarding came forward and sold under fair competition. The prices realised were on a par with other sales, although the demand for dairy stock lacked keenness, owing no doubt to a shortage of feed being experienced at present by farmers. Prices “were as follows: Fat cows, £4 15s to £5 15s; forward cows, £2 Gs to £4 6s; boner cows, up to 395; dairy cows close to profit, £8 to £lO 2s (id; dairy heifers, up to £5.
