RIFT IN CABINET
RUMOURS IN SYDNEY DROPPING OF MINISTERS CHANGE SUGGESTED LEADERSHIP OF PARTY (Elec. T<-1. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. July 11, 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 11. A section of the Sydney press hints that all is not well with the New South Wales Ministry. The origin of the trouble is the recent reconstruction of the Cabinet when the Premier, Mr B. S. B. Stevens, dropped Captain F. A. Chaffey, Colonial Secretary, and Major J. B. Shand, assistant Minister, both of whom are now very bitter. They have a number of staunch supporters in the Government Party who are suggesting that Mr. E. S. Spooner, Minister of Public Works, should replace Mr. Stevens, as Premier in order to restore confidence in the leadership of the Government.
