QUEEN WASP’S STING
MARRIED WOMAN’S DEATH
POISON AFFECTS HEART
LONDON, Juno 12,
Fifteen minutes after being stung by a queen wasp a married woman, 'aged 56, living at Friary Island, Old Windsor, died. Two wasps flew into the house. The woman took off her shoe and knocked both wasps to the floor. She thought she had killed them. Later, when crossing tire room in her bare feet, she trod on one of them. Shortly afterward she collapsed. A doctor said that death was due to poison from the sting working on the woman's weak heart. He said the sting of a queen wasp was more serious than that of an ordinary wasp.
The coroner said he had not heard of a similar ease in his 25 years’ experience.
