(Herald Correspondent.) A successful hard-up social was held in the Kaitaratahi Hall last Tuesday evening, in aid of the queen carnival: There was a good attendance. The winners in fancy costumes were: Messrs. P. Maderi and M McGorver, bridal couple, 1; Mr. L. Cameron, labourer, 2. Musical items given by Miss H. Shelton and Mr. J. Lucas were much appreciated. The dance music was played by Mesdnmes J. Smith and Bodica, and enjoyable extras by Miss K. Muilooly. Mr. W. Gomm was the M.C. A dainty savoury supper was served by the ladies’ committee.
Those present included Mesdames M. Williams, J. Lucas, M. Muilooly. M. Mason, B. Robinson. J. Wallace. J. Grayson, G. Pridy, W. Raggett, J. Smith, A. Bodica, and J. Brown; Misses M. Fisher, K. Muilooly, E Gomm, K. Williams, M. Shelton. P. Bignell, L. Armstrong, I. Cleaver, H E. Shelton, G. Shippe, C. and M. Muilooly, R. and G. Williams, and D. Mason.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Atkins, “Waihora.” are visiting Mr. and Mrs. V. Atkins —Mr. and Mrs. Sinton have taken up their residence in the district.
