COMEDY OF ERRORS
£SO NOTE PASSED FOR 10/-
MOTHEE’S DASH TO SON
MISSED BY FOUR PERSONS
MONEY TRACED BY POLICE
{Per Press Association.) HAMILTON, this day. A dash to Auckland in pursuit of her son, who is on his honeymoon, and to whom she had given a £SO note in mistake for a 10s note, was made this week by a Hamilton woman. When she arrived in Auckland, the woman found that her son, not realising the denomination Of the note, had given it to a minister in Hamilton after the wedding. Mistaken for 10s, the £SO note passed through the hands of several people in Hamilton until it reached a tradesman who, on making up his cash, saw he had a £SO note and handed it to the Hamilton police. They were able to trace the note to tire owner.
She cashed a cheque at a Hamilton bank and received a £SO note. She handed it on as 10s as she was giving change of a £5 note to her son. The son gave the note to the minister who married him, and later the minister handed it to his gardener, receiving 5s in change, thinking he was paying the gardener 5s for his services. The gardener purchased provisions from a tradesman, giving the £SO note over the counter as a 10s one. The bank informed the police of the identity of the woman who cashed the cheque. By this time the woman had discovered her mistake, and had hurried to Auckland in pursuit of the couple on their honeymoon.
