At present there is a shortage of apples in the Wanganui markets, cooking apples being particularly hard to obtain. The shortage is believed to be due to growers placing larger quantities of fruit in cold storage than in previous seasons. The alteration, of the Gove**.iment griidIng standards *has further reduced supplies.
