STAPLE FIBRE SHORTAGE
PROBLEM IN JAPAN
TOKIO, April 25
Though the production of staple fibre in Japan during March exceeded 400 tons a day, says the Domei NewsAgency, many wool and cotton spinners find it difficult to obtain supplies. This is the result of the big requirements of the compulsory mixing programme and the fact that prices are on the upward trend. Some big mills, anticipating a rise in price, have laid in stocks. Manufacturers are disinclined to sell, hoping for a rise, which the Minister for Commerce, Mr. Yoshino, is planning drastically to prevent.
