AUSTRALIAN INSURANCE OPERATION NEXT YEAR RELIEF SCHEME SEPARATE (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) <Recd. May 5, 10.30 a.m.) CANBERRA, May 5. The Federal Treasurer, Mr. R. G. Casey, in the House of Representatives yesterday, introduced two bills to givo effect to the Government's proposals for compulsory national health and pensions insurance. He said that the Government hoped to have the scheme in operation by January of 1939. He pointed out that it would directly apply to 1,750,000 persons and indirectly benefit 3,600,000, including sick, aged, widows and orphans.

Mr. Casey explained in reply to Mr. J. Curtin, the Opposition Leader, that unemployment would have to come later under a separate plan owing to the many difficulties of embodying it in the present legislation.
