MATAWAI STOCK SALE ADVERSE CONDITIONS GOOD COMPETITION The Matawai stock sale was held yesterday under adverse weather conditions, but this did not deter buyers from attending in good numbers from both the Obbtiki and Gisborne districts, attracted, no doubt, by the large entry of cattle and specially advertised lots of outstanding sheep. Practically every line changed hands under good competition and the brokers report a very successful sale. Approximately 600 sheep were yarded, the majority going to itrca! buyers. Messrs. Henson and Green's annual draft of ewe and wether lambs was the principal attraction in this section, and considering the weather conditions prevailing in Matawai for the past month, these sheep came forward in such condition as to be a credit to the breeders. The following are some of the prices realised:—One hundred and forty-two
