FAT CATTLE RISE ADVANCE UK IT)/- A II MAD BTOKTFOftD LODGK SALK (Per Press Association.) HASTINGS, this day. Fat cattle rose by 15s a head at Stortford Lodge slock sale yesterday, but in all other sections competition was lifeless. One hundred and twenty fat station cattle and 50 dairy sorts came forward, the entry being confined to cows and heifers. The top price was £ll for a cow. Values were as follow—Prime cows, to £11: heavy cows, £9 5s to £lO ss; medium cows. £6 16s to £7 17s Gd; Jersey sorts, £4 as to £5 10s. Where, last week, gcoo cow and heifer beef made to 235, today very little was sold below 30s.
Five hundred store cattle were entered, but fully hall the offering Was passed at auction. Prices eased appreciably, there being no quotable lines. The bulk of the small entry of less than 300 store sheep was sent forward by settlers whose flooded farms could not carry stock. It was a poor quality entry. Fat sheep sold at rales from Gd to Is a head below last week.
