DOMINION ENTRANTS
EMPIRE BILLIARDS MOSES AND ALBERTSON (Pur Pross Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. To represent New Zealand in the British Empire amateur billiards championship, beginning at Melbourne on June 0, S. L. Moses, Wellington and A. Albertson, Christchurch, have )een selected. Moses, though still in his twenties, has held the New Zealand national title in 1036 and 1937, and also the Wellington provincial title in 1937. Albertson was New Zealand champion in 1935 and was runner-up' to Moses in 1936. The New Zealand representatives will oppose the finest talent of England, India, Australia and South Africa, as this is to be the most representative Empire championship yet held.
Though the Indian quality is unknown, it is anticipated that the stillest opposition to the New Zealand men will come from Kingsley Kennerley, the English champion, who in the English final registered a 549 break, and also from Marshall, Western Australia, who is in the same class. Allan Prior. South Africa, is another of international fame.
All the games will be on a time limit basis of three two-hourly sessions. This is a relatively short game and should favour New Zealand's entrants. Though huge amateur breaks nowadays are rare in New Zealand, the consistency and versatility of Moses' displays and the doggedness of Albertson, should, with favourable luck, assure them of a reasonable chance.
