CHARGES OF THEFT
CHEQUE TRANSACTIONS YOUNG MAN ON TRIAL (J'it Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. Tile criminal sittings of tlie Supreme Court commenced this morning before Mr. Justice Kennedy. The Grand Jury found true bills in ail the four trial cases. The first case being heard is against Leonard Chalmers Young, who faces six charges of theft arising from the sale of a bond of the Metropolitan Theatre Company, the property oi Eva Weddell .and Lumsden Kent Ball. The accused pleaded not guilty. Tlie Crown Prosecutor produced a statement of the bank withdrawals in the name Metropolitan Theatre Company, of 15 cheques dealing with money belonging to Mrs. Weddell and Ball, claiming that the accused was acting for the company which handled their debentures, and so had committed theft. The case is proceeding.
