SMASH-AND-GRAB RAID
SMALL JEWELLERY HAUL INJURED M AN ARRESTED (I’ur Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Half a brick wrapped in brown paper was used late last night to smash the main display window of lire jeweller’s shop of Mr. Ernest McFeat. Karangahape road, Newton. Tlie window contained diamond signet rings and other jewellery valued at £4OO, but Mr. McFcat stated to-day that so far he had only missed a lady’s gold bracelet watch valued at £3 10s. The noise attracted lire notice of a neighbour ancl a passing motorist. A middle-aged man with his right wrist deeply cut was found near the shop. lie was taken to the hospital accompanied by a constable. The arteries and sinews of iris hand were severed.
