WOMEN’S DIVISION
TOli AO A BAY MEETINO (H<>rald Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Tolaga Bay branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held at the Parish Hall, Tolaga Bay, on Saturday afternoon, those present being Mesdames C. U. O’Connell, president, J. D. G. Thornton, vice-president, A. J. Appleton, secretary, J. L. Reeves, D. G. S. MacDonald, A. J. Reid, H. R. Irving, C. Mackintosh, P. Perley, N. S. Benham. V. F. .Hurlstone, A. Campbell, G. S. Wilson. H. C. Fraser, K. L. Irvine, and Miss Fleming. The report and balance-sheet showed a successful year and a satisfactory financial position. The. election of officers resulted: — President, Mrs. A. Donald: vice-presi-dent. Mrs. C. U. O’Connell: secretary, Mrs. A. J. Appleton; committee, Mesdames H. R. Irving, K. L. Irvine, A. J. Reid, D. G. S. MacDonald and C. Mackintosh. “The Economic Position of New Zealand,” the first of a scries of lectures from the W.E.A., was read by Mrs. Appleton and was followed by an interesting discussion.
It was decided to hold the next meeting on the first Saturday in June.
Mrs. A. Donald conducted a successful “bring, and buy” stall... The afternoon tea hostesses, were Mesdames H. C. Fraser and V. F. Hurlstone. Mrs. H. C.. Fraser was elected to represent the Women’s Division on the Tolaga Bay District Dental Clinic Committee. The pianoforte accompaniments were played by Mrs. C. Mackintosh.
