TEMPERANCE UNION

WAIROA BRANCH MEETS (Herald Correspondent.) There was a good attendance of members at the February meeting of the Wairoa branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union on Tuesday afternoon. The president, Mrs. J. Macdonald, was in the chair.

"Showers of Blessing" was chosen as the opening hymn. The devotions were led by the new Salvation Army ifficer, who gave a stirring address. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. Alexander, who was also chosen as delegate from the branch for the convention to tie held in Napier on March 3.

An address on the early life of Frances Willard and the effect it had on the •nouldint; of her charter was given by Mrs. Brocklehurst. The speaker urged them never to let down the lag of temperance. Mrs. Brocklehurst was asked to convey the greetings of the branch to the Mt. Eden union on her return to-day. The collection was devoted to the Frances Willard fund.
