TE KARAKA NEWS
(Herald Correspondent.) Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Earnshaw and Master Pat Earnshaw, who returned last week after a motor tour through the Hawke’s Bay, Bay of Plenty, and Waikato districts, spent part of their time camping on Ohope Beach. Miss Jean Russell spent her vacation with her mother, Mrs. F. Russell, Kowhai road, Napier. —The Rev. J. D. Hodgson, with a party of Poverty Bay bowlers, has gone to Hamilton to take part in the bowling tournament. —Miss E. Blott has‘been in Auckland for the school holidays. Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Askew, with their son and daughter, Arnolti and Joy, have had an interesting caravan tour of the North Island. Leaving Te Karaka, they travelled south first to Wellington and then up through Wanganui and New Plymouth to the Waitomo Caves, returning home through Rotorua. Miss Jean Sanders, who has been visiting her parents in Nelson, returned to Te Karalca this week, making the last part of the journey by plane. Mr. and Mrs. H. Stevens, who have sold their “Rangatira” property to Colonel C. C. Dowcung, left on Monday for Gisborne. After spending a few days with Mrs. R. Bruce, “Linn Brae,” Mr. and Mrs. Stevens will go on to Hawke’s Bay, where they will make their home for the next few months.
Mr. K. Clarkson, Auckland, whohas been appointed probationary assistant at the Te Karaka District High School, commenced duty on Tuesday.
