JURY AWARDS £238 SEQUEL TO FATALITY (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. Loss of the expectation of life was the basis of a claim for £7500 which was heard in the Supreme Court before the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, an da jury. Tlie plaintiff was Alfred McLeavey, of Te Horo, farmer, as administrator of the estate of the late James Keith McLeavey, of Wellington. motor driver, and the defendants were Marris and Campbell, Limited. Wellington, cartage contractors. The case arose from an accident in Wellington in June last year, McLeavey being knocked down by a motor lorry and dying in hospital from internal injuries.

The jury returned a verdict for the plaintiff for £2OO general damages and funeral and hospital expenses totalling £3B 17s 4d, and costs of the action.
