ANTARCTIC CRUISE

PLANS OF DISCOVERY DEPARTURE ON MONDAY (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. When the research vessel Discovery II leaves Dunedin on Monday, she will steam south-east into the Pacific sector of ihe Antarctic, and will probably meet the ice edge about the north-east corner of the Ross Sea, and then work eastward. It is expected that the first land to be sighted will be the South Shetlands. The ship will then proceed to Port Stanley in the Falkland group, a voyage of about five weeks from New Zealand. From there she will proceed to South Georgia, the centre of the southern whaling industry, and will then return to the ice for a period before going on to Capetown. This will complete the first half of the voyage. From June to April the Discovery will work to the southward of South Africa, returning to London about May of next year.
