ARCHDUKE'S ALLOWANCE
AGREEMENT BY MOTHER COURT ACTION SEQUEL VIENNA. Dec. 8. An "armistice" has been agreed upon between the Archduke Leopold Salvator, brother-in-law of Princess Ileana of Rumania, and his mother, the Archduchess Blanca, Recently the Archduke commenced a suit against his mother in a Vienna court for maintenance. It is reported that the Archduchess will grant her son an allowance, provided he obstains from suing her before the end of 1940. Leopold has promised not to enter his mother's palace without specificpermission. The parties agreed to inform the court of the details of the "armistice" within a week, whereupon Leopold provisionally withdrew his suit. At the initial hearing of the action, the Archduke related that when he and his brother became officers at the time of the Great War the Empress of Austria allotted £7OOO to each of them for equipment. His mother kept the money and they were given merely swords and uniforms. They were forced to beg every trifle from their mother. The Archduchess declared that her son squandered money. The only means of supporting him properly was to furnish him with food.
