COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS
WAITUHI REPARATIONS PASTORATE FUND AID Extensive preparations are starting for a community Christmas at Waituhi. This is being organised under the auspices of the Waituhi and Puha ladies’ committee. At such functions it is the custom among the Maori people to bring gifts for a specified purpose, and invitations are sent out to leaders of families or tribes and friends generally. In this instance the object is to augment the pastorate funds. Although a number of Waituhi people will journey to a Christmas breakfast in the newly-built carved meeting house at Wairoa, it is estimated that many will remain for the local function.
