MANUAL TRAINING CENTRE

CLAIM BY TOLAGA BAY TE KARAKA AND WAIROA THE MINISTER HOPEFUL The Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, is hopeful that difficulties in establishing manual training centres at Tolaga Bay, Te Karaka and Wairoa will be surmounted soon. An indication in this respect has been given to Mr. A. G. Hultquist, VI.P., Bay of Plenty, in a letter sent by the Minister in reply to representations Mr. Plultquist made on behalf of the Tolaga Bay School Committee. “I find on inquiry that the question of extending facilities for manual training in the Hawke's Bay district, particularly at Wairoa, Te Karaka and Tolaga Bay, has been under consideration by the Hawke’s Bay Education Board for some time and is at present under discussion by my department,” the Minister’s letter stated. “It is recognised that, owing to the scattered character of the population, there have been considerable difficulties in the way of providing manual training in the Hawke’s Bay district, but it is hoped that these will soon be surmounted. "I can assure you and the committee of the Tolaga Bay District High School that 1 will give verv sympathetic consideration to any proposal by the Hawke’s Bay Education Board for the provision of suitable facilities for manual training at their school.”
