Mrs. Te Waoro was born at Whakatiwai, near Miranda, but had resided on Waiheko Island for the last 40 years. She was a daughter of Rawiri Puhnta, a prom input chief of the Ngati-huroa tribe. Her husband, Unukaraka Te Wacro. died two years ago at the age of 77. He was born at Miranda, and had lived at Waiheko for 05 years before his death, being recognised ns the leader of the Waiheke Maoris.
