POVERTY RAY UNION EFFICIENCY CIJPS AWARDED 11.5.0.8. WIN SENIOR DIVISION Tiie awards ol the efficiency cups were announced last evening at the weekly meet me. of the management committee of the Poverty Bay Rugby Union, 11.5.0.8. winning the senior division. High School the juniors, and Marist the thirds. The secretary of the Referees’ Association, Mr. A. S. Muir, advised the following results of the efficiency competition for the S. K. White cups, senior and junior, and the Auto Parts Cup for the third grade:— Senior grade.—ll.S.O.B., 5)37 points; Old Boys, 900 points; Celtic, 900 points; Marist, 883 points: Y.M.P., 52(1 points. Junior grade.—High School, 987 points; Old Boys 13, 973 points; 11.5.0.8., 961 points; Old Boys A, 943 points:; Celtic, 867 points; Marini, 849 points; Waikohu, 775 points; P.W.D., 224 points. Third grade.—Marist, 928 points;

Jeune to convey to the Rugby Union the society’s appreciation, Mr. Nolan declared that the sale of the autographs undoubtedly would' result in great material benefit to the society and he assured the union that full advantage would be taken of the opportunity of raising funds for the society’s work. A general discussion ensued as to how the autograph sheets could Be disposed of to the best advantage. .It was suggested that the sheets which contained the autographs of the complete team, should be placed on sale in a shop in town, and it was decided to ask Messrs. Tatlersall and Bayly to take charge of the sale of the lists at Is apiece. It was also suggested that the autographs should be placed on sale, if the Rugby Union was agreeable, at the Oval next Saturday on the occasion of the representative football match, Poverty Bay v. East Coast. However, it was pointed out that only a limited supply of the autographs was available and souvdnir hunters wore advised to apply eafrly. A number of the autographs were immediately sold to the members of the Crippled Children Society present.

K. R. Waite and E. N. Tasker (reserve) were nominated as touch judges for the Springbok match on September 18. Trial Match on Saturday hi connection with the postponement last Saturday, Mr. Sceats said that a special meeting had been held in the morning and partly on account of the state of the Oval' it was decided to postpone the East CoastPoverty Bay match. Since then the officials of the Coast Union had been approached and the decision was reached to hold the trial on Saturday next. The combined teams match against the rest of Poverty Bay would fake place on the Wednesday following and would take the form of a practice run. Referring to the Springboks-Com-bined team match on September 18. it was suggested that the combined team should play in white shorts and scarlet jerseys. It was explained that the shorts would be donated and a decision was made to accept the suggestion ' Mr. T. French was appointed official manager and coach of the combined team after it assembles on Saturday. Mr. P. C. Edmondson was appointed manager and coach of the Poverty Bay Colts' team to play the combined sub-union team on September 18. In connection with the enclosure seats, which are to be unreserved, the chairman said .that the tickets were being printed and it was decided to open up the day sales in the secre- , tary's office as soon as the reservations committee gave its approval. Permission was granted the Gisborne High School to play its Second Fifteen against a team from Te Karaka on Saturday afternoon on its own ground in the school playing area. Draw for Saturday The draw for Saturday was announced as follows: — Senior grade.—East Coast v. Poverty Bay. on No. 1 ground a I 2.45 pjn. .Junior grade, final knock-out.—Old Boys A v. Old Roys R, on No. 1 ground at 1.15 p.m. Fifth grade.-High School A v. Old Boys, on No. 2 ground, at 1.15 p.m.: High School R v. Marist, on No. :l ground al 1.15 p.m. Those present were Messrs. Sceats, chairman, G. .1. Jetine, French, Edmondson, E. T. Rrosnahan. O. S. Run, Jones, Taskor, D. McLeod, J. E. Mercer, A. Worthinglon, ami the secretary. Mr. W. S. McKee.
