GISBORNE SCHOOL
COMMITTEE MEETING PROFIT FROM BALL £22 At the monthly meeting of the Gisborne School Committee last evening Mr. .1. H. Sunderland presided over a good attendance of members. The secretary, Mr. A. F. Langridge, reported that the anual school ball had resulted in a profit of £22 15s. Appreciation was expressed by the chairman of the work that had been accomplished by the ladies' committee in connection with the catering arrangements. The headmaster, Mr. J. E. Shimmin, reported that great interest had been taken by the children in the Arbor Day celebrations. In all, approximately 100 trees had been planted in the school grounds. During the holidays the volley board had been completed. It was reported that the concreting of the senior pupils' playing area was to be commenced within the next few days, this being part of the major ground improvement scheme. The second issue of books under the Turanganui school library scheme had come to hand and the system was proving most successful.
