BIRTHDAY PARTY (Herald Correspondent.) A happy birthday party was held at the residence of Mr. Marsh Kaimoana. Muriwai, on Sunday evening to celebrate the anniversary of the birthday of Mrs. R. Scarfe, who, with the hostesses for the evening, Mrs. P.. Toroa and Mrs. M. Kemp, welcomed the guests on their arrival. The room was tastefully decorated with coloured streamers. Songs were rendered by Mrs. E. Tawiri and Mrs. Scarfe. At a suitable interval a light supper was served, the principal piece on the table being a prettily-iced birthday cake, which was enhanced by decorative sweet peas. Mrs. R. King gave a toast with musical honours to the celebrant. In the course of a short speech Mrs. King called to mind Mrs. Searfo's twin sister now deceased. Others wiio spoke in honour of the occasion were Mesdames W. Pnrou, T. Riki, E. Toroa, M. Kemp, R. King, G. Walker, and E. Tawiri. Mrs. Scarfe suitably responded and offered her thanks to the speakers and other guests. Among those present were Mesdames R. King, N. Kanepa, G. Walker, E. Toroa, T. Riki, E. Tawiri, K. Wilson, J. Pohatu, M. Pohatu, W. Porou, R. Raihania, T. Morgan, M. Kaimoana, M. Kemp, and G. Taipiha; Misses R. Raihania, Martha Kemp, Mary Hamilton, Whiti and Helen Kaimoana; Masters Moana Kemp and Hemi Porou, and Mr. M. Kaimoana. Miss C. A. Wyatt, who has been spending the school vacation visiting friends in the Taranaki district, has returned to Muriwai.—Mrs. Dunlop, sen., has been confined to her bed for some time.
